Church History
St. John's began in 1963 as a mission station worshipping in the Moore YMCA building and officially organized in March of 1964. It was first served by the Rev. William Hecht, OU Campus Pastor. Rev. Charles Conner became St. John's first full-time pastor in March of 1965. The first church structure was dedicated in April of 1968. Rev. Robert Mann became pastor in July 1968.
In 1975, Rev. Paul Hartman accepted the call to serve St. John's. Groundbreaking ceremonies for a new sactuary were held on May 4, 1980. The old sanctuary was converted into classroom, fellowship and kitchen areas under the capable direction of Richard Blanchard. The new sanctuary was rebuilt in 1999 after a fire, along with new construction of a Family Life Center and School.
St. John's has served our Seminaries and Synod by helping to prepare vicars for ministry. To date, 17 vicars have been trained under Pastor Hartman at St. John's Lutheran Church. After 30 years of service to St. John's, Pastor Hartman retired as their shepherd in September of 2005.
Pastor Timothy Wangerin was installed to serve St. John's on May 7, 2006.
In addition to these people, there is a host of members who have given freely of their time and talents to help the ministry of St. John's grow and reach out to the community. Much credit and many thanks must be given to each and every one of them, expressing their love of our Savior by serving Him in this place in so very many ways.
School History

In 2000, the preschool and elementary school consisting of 3 year olds through 1st graders moved into a brand new building on the south side of the St. John's campus. Since 2000, the school has grown to a preschool through 6th grade facility, offering quality Christian education by certified teachers. Our school became accredited through the National Lutheran School Association in 2004.
